Book Review – Men in Green

I really enjoyed reading the new book Men in Green by Michael Bamberger. The well-known author goes on a road trip with his old friend Mike Donald to meet people on his list of golf heroes. You may remember Mike Donald as that journeyman pro who pushed Hale Irwin to the limit at the 1990 U.S. Open only to lose on the 19th hole of the playoff. Ken Venturi is dissected and Arnold Palmer is a key figure in the book. There are a lot of frank discussions that grab your attention. They also speak with “Golf Ball” Hull, Mickey Wright, Jack, Ben and many others. You certainly learn about golf and its culture in the old days and there are many new tidbits of history and rulings that pique your interest. Grab a copy. You won’t be disappointed.
