Minimalist Golf and Life
Minimalist golf course designs have been popular over the last several years. Bandon, Cabot and Streamsong are just a few big names. Respecting the natural terrain is more the strategy than using bulldozers. Most if not all only allow walking and are either links or links style. Less water is used and bunkering can be rougher shaped. This is also fun golf with wider fairways. Traditionalists love this type of golf. Will minimalism enter our personal lives as well following coronavirus? We have been ensnared by the consumerism trap. How about taking a step back and wondering if you really need all the extras? Like minimalist golf, maybe the simpler choice is the better one. I much prefer walking and links golf-old school. Simple sandwiches and crisps washed down with a Guinness in an old clubhouse like Brora in the Highlands. Will a close stroll with a good friend be more appreciated than your purchase of $250 brand sneakers in the new post-virus world?
