Did you know this about Canada as a golf destination?
Parlez-vous francais? I could until Grade 11 at Woodstock Collegiate when we had to as Canadians but too bad much of what I learned has been lost to the netherworld. Mon Dieu…Anyways, as you know, Canada is a bilingual country. If you desire to play magnificent golf and practice the French language then fly to this central Canadian province. Montreal, Quebec City and Mont-Tremblant offer fantastic golf. Although Royal Montreal GC can only be played with a member (President’s Cup fans saw this oldest golf club in North America in all its glory) there are the two courses at Ile de Montreal and Les Quatres Domaines to add to your itinerary. Quebec City includes offerings like Le Tempete and Royal Quebec. And you want to check out the wonderful mix of courses in the mountain country of Mont-Tremblant— Le Diable, Le Geant and Le Maitre. Montreal has English citizens along with French as you wander the walled city and cobbled stone streets. Wear your Habs hockey sweater and gain points. Food, wine and fashion are great. Quebec City is almost all French and beautiful to wander the walled city and oozes history. Go to the majestic Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac and admire the beauty of this structure, the St. Lawrence River down below and walk the Plains of Abraham where the British and French battled centuries ago to determine ownership of our beautiful country. For those who want to feel a bit of European flavour, visit different regions of Quebec. And after golf, order poutine or try the maple syrup while listening to Celine Dion ballads or the 80’s band Men Without Hats. Incroyable (see I still have a vague memory of Moose Macgregor’s French class at WCI)! Glad to speak with you so you can learn more or I can build an itinerary for your next custom golf trip. I can be contacted at 250-864-4051, wayne@athlonegolftours.com in British Columbia.
