Canadian Golf can learn from Portugal Golf Tourism
Portuguese golf courses need to cater to international golfers because they have a small golfing base and they do an excellent job. Canada has a huge 5 million plus golfing community and our courses cater mostly to Americans and domestics. It is time for Canadian golf courses and our national tourist board to shift attention and embrace the global golfing community. Canada should join countries like Vietnam, South Africa, and New Zealand that market golf tourism to the world. With the decline of golf participation in Canada our golf organizations are missing a huge market to feed our 2300+ golf courses. I saw first hand that Portugal gets it.
