I want to thank my English brother-in-law, Steve Bull for bringing this wonderful phrase to my attention. It is a great one to say and live by. When you hit a shot in the middle of the fairway at Carnoustie and the ball takes a wonky bounce and goes into a deep-faced bunker, do you whine to your mates or do you say to yourself, “That is links golf and like life, you get bad bounces. Deal with the situation and focus on the recovery”. As I breathe in the heavy smoke and see the sun blocked from the Western U.S. fires that are raging, do I wave my fists in the air. No, I read a great book in my air-conditioned West Kelowna, BC home. When the American presidential election competition turns nasty, do you vent on social media? What you should do is read contrasting views and use critical thinking skills to learn more about the topics of importance to form your informed opinion. Vote if you are American and stay civil. Control the controllables. You can’t change many things in your life but you can alter your attitude and focus on things you can control. Great words to live by and your stress in life will be reduced.
