Lone Ranger minus Tonto on the Golf Course
Power cart, golf cart or buggy. This North American golf course vehicle and scourge displaced the enjoyment of walking courses and eliminated caddy programs for the young. I get it that there are people with health issues that need them. But walking is integral to the game of golf and many golfers have become lazy. Ask for buggies in the UK and Ireland and you will most likely be met with silence or a quip saying No unless a medical certificate is shown. Our continent produced new golf courses where there were long walks between holes, ugly cart paths and a separation of foursomes into two carts. Now with physical distancing, we will witness a Lone Ranger without his/her Tonto golfing mate on the same cart. Will there be four golf carts buzzing around in each group and even less chats and banter? Time for us to embrace walking again in the post-coronavirus world and resurrect spontaneous conversations and laughter while strolling in fairways and searching for balls in deep woods. Golf the way it should be, the way it was meant to be. And you can also lose a few pounds from quarantine 15.
