Port and Porto, Portugal

The oldest golf club in Portugal is in Porto. I however, was there to experience this rejuvenated city. It oozes history. You get lost climbing up and down the cobbled streets. Ancient churches abound and a visit to the historic railway station is a must. By the Douro River you peer at century old walls and buildings. Then view contrasts of a performer doing Michael Jackson moonwalks while high school students play traditional Portuguese music. We sampled port at Churchill’s and then admired the spectacular panoramic view of the city from the 5* Yeatman Hotel. There is a fine pulse to this city. As the Simple Minds song says, It’s Alive and Kicking.
