“Have you played at Bandon?” I asked a gent at Reykjavik Airport after seeing the well known puffin logo on his clothing. He answered in the affirmative and wondered if I was going on a Scotland golf trip. I was in fact hosting his group and we laughed about this chance meeting as he is American and I am Canadian. Don has now become a good acquaintance. I spoke with a man wearing an Old Head Golf Links lighthouse logo’d cap in Bordeaux of all places. This southern Irish golfing jewel is one of my favourites in the world and we exchanged golfing rather than wine experiences. And when Gerry was walking his two dogs in our local BC park, I inquired whether he golfed locally when I viewed his golf hat. I have since joined his Loonies group of retired and fun gentlemen playing at Shannon Lake in West Kelowna. As a curious individual, striking up conversations with strangers that sport iconic golf logos is a natural for me. We are part of a golfing brotherhood. There is no secret handshake but an instant commonality exists that creates new connections and exciting friendships. What is your logo story?
