Follow-up on Golf Pet Peeves
I thought my golfing pet peeves would resonate and the thousands of reads and many comments confirmed it. Most fell on the traditionalist side and there were good additions. Some from the new wave golf frontier disagreed. As I learned in studying political studies at Queen’s, there is no right or wrong but a perspective. Since I started golf at 5, I was told to respect the game and etiquette and fit into what golf offered. With new thoughts on what golf is and a digital presence on golf courses and society, the landscape is shifting and people can argue that golf should bend to the new era. I prefer to walk, play links golf, take my cap off in the clubhouse and speak with my friends without digital intrusion. I know others disagree. That is alright. Let’s at least swing the club and keep golf alive with so many threats to its existence.
