19 Holes

To me, a round of 18 holes is not complete without visiting the clubhouse and the 19th hole for drinks, food and match discussions. And links golf trips to the UK and Ireland bring incredible experiences and memories. Wonderful chili and soup at Royal Montross with new acquaintances on a golf fam trip. Tasty Guinness and chips at Waterville following a round in 60 mph winds and listening to a pitch by the waitress to buy her heavily devalued house during the great recession in 2011. How about mini-sandwiches, Belhaven beer, Clynelish whisky, and chips with the chef at Brora? Staring out to the rough sea from the Lusitania Bar at Old Head with your Verma Cup friends knowing a U-Boat sunk the unlucky ship at that spot. Embellishments about your shots, coulda, woulda, shoulda comments, exchanging of monies because of a match’s results, many laughs, a draught beer here and Irish stew there. Golf is spectacular when playing links and other courses. Congregating in the clubhouse with your mates is of equal enjoyment and important. What is your favourite 19th hole clubhouse story?
