2008: When the World and Golf Shifted

|
The Economic meltdown. Tiger’s last major win. The rise of Facebook and Google. These events are all interconnected. People played less golf because they couldn’t afford it that year and in the following years. Time spent outside shifted inwardly to Google searches and spending more time on social media. Attention spans dwindled. We are trying to oversell golf to a new generation. The wiring of the brain has changed and deep concentration at times can be futile. 18 hole rounds will never be the same but I still love it. Maybe it is society to blame and not golf.
