I made birdie, please get off the tee
One of my pet peeves is someone who stands on the next tee after I made birdie. Not a pseudo birdie like when someone says, “Hey I get a stroke off the card because of my handicap!”. Nope, a natural birdie. At my local Shannon Lake GC in BC, the Loonies group that I play in strictly abides by that rule. I saw it in action two weeks ago when the intruder tried to tee off first and there was a Ahhhh..you need to get off type of exchange since Wayne has honours. Good stuff. Getting a natural birdie is hard earned and a fantastic feeling. You receive accolades from playing partners and have special status for a few minutes. Your right is to walk to the tee as though you are Moses with the Red Sea parting in front of you. Always remember that when another golfer drains that putt. Sincerely congratulate him or her for achieving this magical score. Stand by, stand back. And enjoy the smile on his face as he launches first in line.
