Topgolf and Gatorade
I travelled with my good friend Chris and his family from Woodstock, Ontario to Cincinnati in the ’70’s. We were fans of the Big Red Machine during their heydays of Rose and Bench. They preceded to lose all their games against the Cubs, Cards and Bucs at Riverfront Stadium! But my consolation prize was sipping Gatorade because at the time, we could not buy it in Canada. Canadians often enviously eye the Americans when they experience products and services first. Like Topgolf. You know that neat, indoor golf entertainment where you eat wings, banter with your friends and hit the occasional golf shot using technology. Nope, Canada which has the second largest quantity of golf courses in the world and love the game do not have Topgolf. Rumours were that it was to be here by now in the Greater Toronto Area and connected to Cineplex. It has to be the red tape or lousy bureaucracy right? Meanwhile, Mexico, the UK, Australia and golf mecca Dubai have them (maybe some sarcasm) here. I enjoy my purple Gatorade now in Canuckville but have to dream of trying Topgolf sometime down the road. Now why did the Reds lose all five games with all those future hall-of-famers?
